The dorm unit is transformed from traditional Hakka street house. Openings in each floor encourage student interaction more frequently. The unit _ family/courtyard house A living room is in the middle of five to nine units (family). The general residence layout is applied to transfer a dorm to a home. There is a specific family room for each family with sharing table for dining and studying, simple kitchen, water dispenser, and cozy chairs. The neighborhood The family room can also be open to other family. There are curtains for the residents to enclose their own unit by their choice. It creates public and private space at the same time and more family interaction happen naturally. Open Space Connection Three type of public open spaces are created between the two dorm buildings. The entrance plaza is a transition area from sports field and a place full of events. The underground courtyard with convenient store, semi-outdoor seat, and saloon is the major space of school life. The east-south garden nearby provides natural green landscape.
